On Tuesday, Senator Uba Sani, representing Kaduna Central at the Senate House, declared his intention to run for the 2023 governorship seat in Kaduna under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The senator said his idea to declare his intention to contest for the governorship seat in 2023 was borne out of their party’s mandate of delivering good governance to the people at various levels.
The good work and transformation being experienced in Kaduna would be in a better position to ensure continuity and other new developmental strides if his intentions turned out to be reality. He said.
Kaduna State has been taken to a new level under Mallam Nasir El Rufai, the state has been totally reworked in all the sectors. It is truly a new dawn in Kaduna State.
The challenge before us is how to sustain a legacy of outstanding public service, the impact of the reversal of the gains in the post 2023 era will be a huge tragedy.
Our people can’t settle for anything less, this is the reason that I am humbly stepping forward to carry the banner of continuity.
I understand El-rufai’s vision and mission; I stand in a good position to sustain his vision and mission, i am conversant with the developmental challenges in the state, I understand its complexities and possibilities.
“I have worked very closely with El-rufai for over 20 years, spanning his days at the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE), the period he served as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and, of course, when President Olusegun Obasanjo graciously appointed me his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, I benefited immensely from the wise counsel of Mallam El Rufa’i, who was at the time a key and highly respected member of the Obasanjo administration.
“I therefore declare my intention to help entrench the transformational legacy of our inimitable Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufa’i, by seeking the nomination of our party and the staunch support of our people,” Sani said.
Muhammad Sani Abdullahi (Dattijo) Declaration
However, Kaduna’s Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi (Dattijo), has expressed interest in running for governor in 2023,
According to Dattijo Over the last 7 years, I have had the unique opportunity to work closely with, and support our Governor, Father, and Leader, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, in his efforts to transform our dear state. As even his harshest critics will accept, the period from 2015– date is the most historic development our state has witnessed since its creation.
I remain deeply proud and honoured with the rare opportunity afforded me by the Governor to learn under his leadership and to contribute to the process that has delivered the indelible progress that Kaduna State has witnessed in the last seven years. With a front seat in government, first as Commissioner, later as Chief of Staff, and again as Commissioner; I have had the privilege to contribute to debate and to understudy the thinking behind every policy intervention and decision of the APC government. I am confident of my ability to sustain all that has been achieved so far and continue to Move Kaduna Forward.
The desire to guarantee continuity in governance, especially in the area of evolving development in the State, has largely fueled my interest in the 2023 gubernatorial contest. As a development practitioner, I’m conscious of the danger of retrogression and the need to ensure that the gains we’ve made as a State are not reversed under whatever circumstances. I am therefore putting myself forward based on the need to ensure the continuity of excellent performance we’ve witnessed in the last 7 years.
My immediate priority is to sustain the current level of achievements and to build on them to advance the development of Kaduna State, expand its security and prosperity and grow a vibrant economy that is driven by quality service and transparent leadership. Over the last few months I have thought deeply about current and emerging challenges and have put together a draft blueprint to address all these which I will share shortly.
In the coming days and weeks therefore, I intend to visit, reach out and consult with as many of you as possible. I want your ideas, opinions, suggestions, contributions, prayers and concerns to shape the thrust of our campaign and eventual success insha’Allah.
Your encouragement, support and prayers will be highly appreciated. My huge thanks and appreciation to many respected individuals and groups who have been reaching out and expending their own resources to encourage this aspiration. I really appreciate it.
