On Wednesday, a Kaduna governorship aspirant and senator representing Kaduna Central at the Senate house, Sen. Uba Sani, donated a car to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council.
The Senator said the gesture of providing mobility for the NUJ Kaduna Council was borne out of the long relationship he had with journalists.
Sani, while presenting the car keys through his Chief Zonal Constituency Officer, Abubakar Rabiu, said the car (Saloon) was meant to enhance the mobility of the Council in ensuring delivery of their mandate of gathering and disseminating information to the public.
“We felt the donation was our own way of contributing to the Council’s effective and prompt information dissemination and organizing the affairs of the public through enlightenment to know the actualities going on in governance in Kaduna,” he explained.
He stressed that the donation was also aimed at motivating women, considering the Kaduna Council’s having a female as the first Chairman, piloting the affairs of the council.
“Like you all know, i and the governor of Kaduna State, always want to see females holding offices in Government and piloting the affairs of strategic places in the society.
“We are very passionate about the media, hence, our idea of the donation, having making all possibilities to attend to media engagements when invited.
“The donation only coincides with the 59 cars we donated two days ago for our campaigns. We are actually passionate about the progress of journalists, and this is not our first time contributing in one way or the other to their success,” Sani said.
Receiving the key and documents of the car, the Chairman, NUJ Kaduna Council, Hajiya Asma’u Halilu, thanked the Senator for the kind gesture.
She said having the car for the council was an achievement and it would go a long way in easing their mobility.
Halilu said, “We came at a time where the council had no vehicle, and today, by Allah’s grace, Senator Uba Sani has given us one.”
She prayed for God to assist the Senator to achieve his goals and give him the heart to continue delivering positively to his constituents and the needy in general.
