In a mission to revive the culture of reading and writing in the country, universal writers and authors have organized an essay writing competition for secondary school students across zones of Kaduna state.
Many schools have participated. Teachers’ and students’ performances were encouraged as parents and the Kaduna state ministry of education recommended the efforts of the universal writers and authors.
Hampos College, Learning-field Academy, and Ansa-ruddeen College were the schools to beat others and emerge as the overall best in zone two competitions.
Awards and certificates were presented to winners who emerged from various schools.

However, the president of the universal writers and authors, Abdulazeez Alhassan, calls on the government to show greater commitment to growing the country’s education sector.
He also emphasizes the importance of reviving the reading and writing culture among schoolchildren in order to sustain quality education, and thus Universal Writers and Authors believes it is appropriate to organize an inter-secondary school essay writing competition as a means of achieving this goal.
Kaduna state commissioner of education, represented by Mrs. Mercy Bainta Kude, Deputy Director of Public Schools, noted that teachers need to be more dedicated as their children’s futures and good conduct become their primary responsibility.
She, however, urges schoolchildren to keep pens on paper by constantly practicing making perfection, especially in writing and reading.
Some of the lucky winners expressed joy while encouraging other students to emulate the culture of writing and reading.
