The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged citizens plying the Abuja-Kaduna highway ahead of the Eid celebration to adhere to traffic rules following a heavy gridlock along the Jere area of the Kagarko Local Government area of Kaduna State.
The motorway serves as a major road for journeys from Abuja, the country’s capital, to Kano, a state in the northwestern part of the country.
Nigerians have expressed dissatisfaction over the traffic disruption, which has heightened public frustration over the long-delayed reconstruction of the highway, which began under the former president Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
In the statement issued by the FRSC, disclosed that “the obstruction is a result of a road traffic crash that involved a tanker at about 2 kilometres after Jere, by Katari village on the Abuja-Kaduna motorway.
“Motorists plying that route are advised to drive with caution and be lane disciplined. The Corps operatives are already at the scene making frantic efforts to remove all obstructions hindering the free flow of traffic,” the statement added.
