As conflict and violence consume the lives of both civilians and the military while destabilizing the economy of the affected country, the Nigerian military has taken steps to eradicate the menace, which has become a major threat to the world. The army, which is committed to restoring peace and ensuring security, has launched a book with the mission to enhance solutions while strengthening the capacity of the military and promoting peace and security across the globe.
The book, which was released in two volumes titled “Defense, Security, and Sustainable Development in Africa: Emerging Challenges and Responses,” examines the nature and dynamics of defence, security, and sustainable development in the region.
However, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, who commissioned some facilities during the lunch of the book at the Nigerian Defence Academy, discloses that the NDA has become a hub for knowledge production and publication on topical issues, particularly defence, security, and sustainable development.
While commending the NDA for conducting research that addresses Nigeria’s defence and security needs, he praised the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) for its role as a center of knowledge production and research on crucial topics such as defence, security, and sustainable development. He emphasized the interconnectedness of these three concepts, referring to them as a tripod.
He also expressed satisfaction with the NDA Strategic Plan 2023–2033, which aims to position the academy among the top universities in Nigeria and Africa. The CDS, along with other dignitaries, commissioned various projects, including duplexes, an indoor sports complex named after Gen. Irabor, and parade grounds dedicated to two former NDA RSMs.
Meanwhile, while commissioning the constructed facilities, Irabo further stated that the facilities will enhance a conducive atmosphere for both the cadets and staff of the defence academy, as well as the military, in delivering quality service for the benefit of the nation’s security.
