Nigeria Immigration Service in Benue is to deport foreign nationals in the state whose visas have expired.
The controller in charge of Benue State Command, Dr. Festus Amaraeze who stated this when he paid Governor Samuel Ortom a courtesy visit at Government House, Makurdi said the command received the mandate to do so and the international passports of the affected nationals have been withdrawn for monitoring.
He appealed to the State Government to assist the Nigeria Immigration Service with the logistics to effectively carry out the exercise, saying the 23 Local Government areas of the state are going to be covered.
The Controller of the Immigration Service said the command has also been carrying out sensitisation of drivers at motor parks on the dangers of child labour and trafficking as well as sending monthly security reports to the Governor for action.
Responding, Governor Samuel Ortom who commended the Immigration Service for complementing the efforts of the State Government in providing security for the people, called on the Federal Government to fund them more to enhance their operations.
