Kano Police Restore Calm in Dorayi, Arrest Two Suspects Over Murder

The Kano police command has announced arresting two suspects linked to killing in the Dorayi community of the Gwale local government area of the state.

The suspect was said to be involved in the clash with a rival gang group terrorising the community.

Haruna Kiyawa, police spokesperson, made the announcement in a Facebook post published 26 August.

According to him, “One Yusuf Ahmad visited a neighbouring community at the Dorayi; some gang groups attacked the individual, where he sustained some injuries.

“As the news of the attack circulated, youth from the Ahmad community regrouped and headed towards the “Konenen gidan mai” for a reprisal.

“However, following intelligence information regarding what has grown to a communal clash between the two groups, the police commissioner, Cp Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, mobilised police from different units.

“The police stormed the communities and swung into action, where normalcy was immediately restored.

“After calming the situation, the police launched a manhunt for the two suspects involved in the killings, and the operation was successful, resulting in their arrest at a hideout. ” Kiyawa says

“Therefore, I will caution everyone to live in peace and without fear as normalcy is restored in Dorayi. The police will always be involved in arresting any criminals or groups trying to harm anyone or cause unrest in Kano.

He further thanked the police officers for their swift response, which led to the successful operation that restored normalcy in Dorayi and beyond.
