As the collation ends, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), is declared the winner of the 2023 presidential elections, clinching the position of Nigeria’s highest office as number one citizen by the country’s electoral body, Daily Episode report.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, announced Tinubu’s victory at about 4 a.m. Wednesday morning in Abuja, the Nigerian capital territory, at the national collation center, where party agents, observers, media coverage, and citizens watched live the broadcasts.
However, a direct statement by INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on the announcement of the elected presidents stated that “Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
In figures, the elected President Tinubu scored a total of 8,794,726 votes in 36 states across the geopolitical zones of the federation.
Prior to the announcement of the elected President Tinubu, he led a landslide victory in 12 states while growing and getting a significant percentage organically from states his closest rival, the Nigerian former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Mr. Peter Obi, who came third with Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the fourth, had won.
He’s believed to be 71 years old, the oldest Nigerian elected president since the 1999 return of democracy from the decades-long military autocratic rule.
Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who came second in the election, pulled a total of about 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) became third with 6,101,533 votes, a far defeat to Kwankwaso, who only won his home state with 1,496,687 votes from across the country.
The Elected President Tinubu Win Massage
No doubt, it is my turn to lead Nigeria. “I am profoundly humbled to serve as the 16th President of our beloved country.” “This is a shining moment in the life of any man and an affirmation of our democratic existence.”
I can’t win without your support, the youth, women, and everyone. I thank you, especially for the “Atikulated,” “Obidents,” “Kwankwasiyya,” and “Batified” he mentioned.
Daily Episode understands-that the former governor of Lagos, now Nigerian elected president, has indeed set a record by winning an election with a same-faith ticket and getting the highest number of votes from across the country’s geopolitical zones.
