As insecurity intensifies in Nigeria, security operatives in the country are strengthening their operations to crack down on the menace and restore peace and stability. Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the information officer of the operations of Safe Haven troops, announced the arrest of kidnappers and gunrunners in Barikin Ladi LGA of Plateau State.
The arrested suspects were alleged to be the masterminds behind several attacks and atrocities committed against innocent citizens along Gashish and Kurra Falls in Barikin Ladi LGA of Plateau and Fadan Karshe in Sanga local government area of Kaduna State.
According to the statement, a joint operation involving the intelligence agency on Saturday, May 10, led to a landmark success with the arrest of Yahaya Adamu—a suspected gunrunner and kidnapper—at Barikin Gangare in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
However, after Mr. Adamu’s arrest, the troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle and a magazine with an ITEL mobile phone in a follow-up operation that led to another arrest of a notorious gunrunner and a kidnapper, Mr. Saeedu Haruna.
While in custody, both suspects, Adamu and Haruna, are making revelations as efforts are ongoing by the troops to track, arrest, and eliminate every member of the criminal gang and recover their weapons, the statements added.
