The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’a Abubakar, has described the recent looting and destructions of government and private assets by hoodlums as wickedness.
The Sultan who spoke at the 50th anniversary of Arewa House in Kaduna, commended northern youths for exercising restrain.
He said poverty should not be used as an excuse to plunder the nation’s assets.
The royal father added that: “We know there is poverty but poverty should not be used for wickedness.
“Because what happened in the last couple of days is wickedness by some disgruntled hoodlums and I think it is important to condemn it loud and clear.”
He challenged northern leaders to work hard in creating a region that will project the vision of the late Premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello.
Hoodlums, who hijacked the #EndSARS protest, had looted public and private property across the country with government and private warehouses their main targets.
Although, security operatives have been able to halt the ugly trend, state governments are counting their losses with Plateau State saying it lost N75 billion to the looters.
