In another milestone, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmad, visits Rigasa General Hospital, where she engages with staff and emphasises the importance of professionalism in delivering healthcare services.
This is coming two days after the Daily Episode report, which exposes how citizens in need of medical attention suffer neglect due to a shortage of medical personnel.
In a phone call, the commissioner confirms to Daily Episode that about four medical doctors were available and attending to patients in the hospital as she supervised.
According to her, besides the medical doctors, “We also have one volunteer personnel who’s also assisting in rendering service to save lives at the health facility.
“We are always ready to ensure citizens’ health is prioritised; hence, I have made an emergency arrangement to visit the hospital after your report to investigate and make findings, even though the information in your stories should have been balanced with us before publishing.” She said
When this reporter replied with, “We called the ministry’s PRO and waited for more than 24 hours without a response to questions submitted. The PRO confirmed submitting the questions to a director, but, unfortunately, we received no response, only strategic denials with excuses after follow-up calls.”
“Furthermore, my doors are open; kindly direct your findings to me, and I assure you of swift actions,” she added
However, the commissioner reiterates her commitment to upholding professionalism in the health sector as she works to deliver quality and impactful service to ensure citizens enjoy the deserved medical care.
