In his mission to promote self-reliance and financial freedom, the senator representing Kano Central, Rufa’i Sani Hanga, has empowered and sponsored the training of no fewer than two hundred youths and women among his constituents in fish farming in Kano State.
During the training flag-up ceremony, the senator highlighted the significance of the training as he expressed his readiness to uplift his constituents by providing programs that aim to alleviate poverty and unemployment.
In an interview Daily Episode, the senator urges all public office holders in the country to promote entrepreneurship, as it will grow the country’s economy and reduce the rate of poverty.
According to the senator, “I always believe in entrepreneurship because when someone is skilled and self-employed, he will definitely contribute to the growth of the Nigerian economy, which will also give him or her the financial freedom to employ others.
Thus, I choose to empower the youth and women because I know the level at which they suffer from financial incapability, especially the women, among whom are widows or married to husbands who are struggling to cater for family needs.
Therefore, I see the need to empower them so they can have something to offer as a service that can earn them legitimate means and even help others as well. Hanga continues
However, these initiatives will not only support or help them earn a living, but I understand that when the youth are busy finding solace in their respected business place, society becomes less crime-prone and less criminal, which means that many dangers will be curtailed.
Seeing how the youth handle issues and how the rate of unemployment is on the rise, I see it as necessary to keep them busy, make them independent, and flush away the idle minds with skills and money.
Because I sometimes cry for the level of hardship in this country, especially when I know people can hardly afford to eat a single meal a day, especially here in the north, where the level of poverty is on the rise.
Before now, the privileged helped the needy, or the less privileged per se, but these days even the privileged are now in need, which makes the situation worse to bear.
Therefore, I urge every public office holder to emulate the practice of supporting vulnerable citizens with skills, money, and food to eat, as this will significantly allay their suffering and give them financial independence. Senator Hanga added.
Beneficiaries Account
Personally, I am glad to have been selected as a beneficiary of this training, because this will go a long way in reshaping our careers as youth. Hindatu Ibrahim, a beneficiary, revealed.
According to her, “if the beneficiaries of this program will use the skills and use fish farming as a means of living, especially with the capital given to us, I believe it will help reduce hunger, poverty, and unemployment in Nigeria, and we will become job creators instead of job seekers. She added.
While Abdulrahman Ibrahim revealed how he struggled to start the fish farming but was unable to do so for lack of capital and skills, he praises the senator for making an impact in his life as his dream is fulfilled at a time of desperate need.
