Borno, Northern Nigeria: A civilian-formed organisation, the civilian joint task force (CJTF) tackling the atrocities of terrorist groups “Boko-Haram” across the northeastern part of Nigeria, has announced the immediate dismissal of its funding commandant, Lawal Ja’afar, while also re-instating some suspended officials of the organisation.
The officer was said to have been dismissed by the members of the organisation after corruption allegations were labelled on him, as announced by Bashir Abbas, the auditor general of the organisation, in a press conference held on October 1st in Borno State, northwestern Nigeria.
According to Abbas, the dismissed boss was found guilty of misappropriating about 15 Hilux vehicles donated by both the Boron state government and the country’s National Petroleum Corporation NNPC, for which the organisation needs the services of the vehicles for its operations in the fight against insurgency.
However, after deliberations and careful consideration of the constitutions, especially Article 6 Rule 1 of the CJTF and Article 6 Rule 2 (vi), we have appointed Baba Shebu Abdulganiyu, the Commander of Sector 4 CJTF, as the acting President of the organisation while also reinstating some suspended officers like Bar. Jibrin Tela Gunda, Babakura Mustapha, Abba Tijani Sadiq, and Abba Aji Kalli.
The reinstatement of the officials to comply with directives of the Borno State Government, which have been issued since November last year, Abbas continued
To this end, Abdulganiyu will lead the activities of the civilian joint task force in Borno State until the announcement of a substantive leader is made. He added.
However, according to Human Angle, as gathered by Daily Episode, the dismissed commandant, Ja’afar, denied the allegations while also claiming he’s still the authentic leader of the organisation.
It is not possible for five disgruntled excos out of 27 to claim the support of over 27,000 officers of the CJTF and dismiss me from this position. Ja’afar claimed.
Therefore, I will continue to serve as the commandant without any hindrance because I am the leader of this organisation.
However, I am aware of the allegations of misappropriation of Hilux vehicles, which until this time I am not sure about; only that, I know the government auctioned some scrap vehicles that I bought and sold as scrap while I repaired some and sold them to make a profit. He added.
