Unrest in Kaduna over the escalation of insecurity and the strange mounting of highly sophisticated bombs by suspected terrorist groups targeting civilians, properties, and businesses
The terrorists mounted an impoverished explosive device in a hotel located in a community in Kabala West on February 27, making it a nightmare in the Kaduna South local government area of the state.
Police authorities have confirmed the incident to newsmen, adding that no casualties were recorded from the explosion, adding that there was nobody in the building when it exploded.
How Police Deactivated Improvised Explosive Devices (PER NAN)
On Feb. 27, the same day an explosion happened at a hotel in Kaduna, the Kaduna State Police Command reported having deactivated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a bar.
The IED was deactivated at Larry Breeze Bar, located in the Romi area of Chikun Local Government Area, according to the command’s spokesperson, Mohammed Jalige, who gave an update on the two incidents in a statement on Tuesday.
Following the hotel explosion, authorities acquired information about another suspected IED planted in a bar where football fans were watching a game, he said.
On the basis of this intelligence, logistics and troops were dispatched to cordon off the entire area, while an EOD unit was dispatched to defuse the IED.
The previous explosion occurred at the Dorino Hotel in Kaduna’s Kabala West neighborhood.
The hotel was only slightly damaged by the explosion, and no one was injured.
“The state’s citizens are being urged to report any suspicious objects to the nearest security formation,” the CP said.
“He’s also urging folks to go about their daily routines because there’s no reason to be concerned,” Mr. Jalige said.
