The newly appointed federal Commissioner in charge of National Commission For Refugee, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim has
charged staff of the Commission to take their duties with every sense of responsibility.
She gave the charge Friday 4th June on her resumption of office at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
While addressing staff members of the Commission, she charged them to take their duties seriously in order to justify the trust reposed in them.
She also noted that NCFRMI is the lead National Cordinating body for all Migration issues. Noting that their focus will be addressing issues of POCs from their root cause while providing durable and prosperous solutions to strengthen the existing National response.
Just within one week in office, she has brought in new innovations to enhance the smooth running of the Commission to meet up the needs of refugees, migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, part of which is the use of ICT tools to advance a smart office setting.
The NCFRMI is under the supervision of the federal ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management and social development. It is the agency with the statutory powers to implement all the international protocols and conventions relating to the status of refugees.
Born in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, Hajiya Imaan hails from Keffi, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. She is a Nigerian politician and businesswoman.
Before her new assignment, She was the director-general of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP from 1st December 2020 to 27th May 2021, when President Muhammadu Buhari announced a swap and she was redeployed as the Honourable Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.
She is reckoned for her innovative and strategic leadership qualities and a great Manager of people and Financial resources.
