Following the establishment of the Nigerian student loan, which aims to increase inclusion and accessibility for all Nigerian youth, where literacy will become a pride and dropout a thing of history, the government, through its commitment, has again launched the TVET program, where youth and students will be equipped with skills and opportunities to thrive in life.
While highlighting key provisions of the program to citizens in Kaduna during a sensitization program organized by G-Adams Integrated Service Limited with “Youth through Skills: The New Face of TVET in Nigeria” as the theme, Mustafa Iyal, the program’s Executive Director of Operations, revealed how the program aimed to eradicate unemployment in the country.
According to him, “In Nigeria we have been having business, skills, and entrepreneurship programs, but considering the strategy and sustainable mechanism developed in the TVET program, I can assure you it’s one of the best Nigeria has ever gotten for the impact it may yield a few years from now.
“TVET is in two ways: first, we have the master twelve, which has a one-year duration period, where every applicant for this particular category will receive training for a period of one year, while we also have the master six, which also lasts for a period of six years; and finally, we have the federal technical colleges tracking, which aims to equip and support both the technical colleges and the students to improve efficiency and productivity and is targeted at job creation. Iyal explained
He also added that the training is cost-free, with more professional bodies embedded in the program, urging its utilization.
“Free training for the entire program: the government will pay for the training and pay beneficiaries ₦20,000 as a stipend monthly, while at the end of the training, the beneficiaries will enjoy several benefits where tools and machinery will be shared with them as startup capital
“This opportunity is for every Nigerian, be it from the north or south, so long as you are a Nigerian citizen, then you are entitled to apply for the TVET program. He continues.
“The required documents are also not much; all one needs is a national ID card (NIMC), a phone number, and a BVN.” Iyal added.
Mr. Iyal further charges Nigerians to support the TVET program by embracing it for national development.
