As the Nigerian military expands its operations against terrorism in the North-West region, troops of the Mobile Strike Team (MST) under Operation FASAN YAMMA (OPFY) successfully neutralised the terrorist leader popularly known as Auta alongside his lieutenants.
The terrorist, alongside his high-ranking lieutenants Abdul Jamilu and Salisu were also neutralised during an operation around Ƙunchin Kalgo town in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on 10 June 2025, as announced by the military.
Auta and his companions have been linked to several atrocities against innocent civilians and security operatives, where several people have been killed, kidnapped and lost their properties, among many others.
The operation marks a significant blow to criminal elements, destabilising peace and security in Zamfara, the army says.
However, beyond Auta and his companions, additional terrorist kingpins, including one identified as Babayé, were eliminated during the operation.
In a separate incident, Sale Ado Madele (alias Sarki), the eldest son of known bandit leader Ado Alieru, was also reportedly killed.
While reaffirming its commitment to eradicating terrorism, the Nigerian military also revealed that ten terrorists were eliminated near a filling station in Danjibga. The group, believed to be part of a syndicate assembled by the notorious Dogo Sule, was reportedly preparing for a coordinated attack.”
