The presidential aspirant under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi, has said Nigeria is collapsing and going through problems.
The former Anambra State Governor stated that if elected president in 2023, he would invest more in youth development because the future of Nigerian youths has been jeopardized in recent years.
Peter Obi, who addressed the Kaduna delegates on Monday, said Nigeria is collapsing, hence the need to start changing its narrative by voting into political offices credible leaders who would make the country great again.
“To our delegates, I appeal to you to think and pray before voting. If anyone gives you money, collect it, but put the future of your children first so that you can vote for a capable leader who would move the country forward.”
The Economist lamented the number of people living in poverty in the country, saying the number of poor people in Nigeria is higher than that of India and China.
Speaking on insecurity, the presidential hopeful said if given the opportunity, he would first of all fight natural insecurity, which is taking people out of poverty.
“Fighting natural insecurity is simple; just take people out of poverty, because the more you pull people out of poverty, the more you reduce criminality.”
Secondly, considering how our textile industries have been abandoned, I want to turn Nigeria from a consuming to a producing country. As it is, countries like Vietnam are making big from textile and garment production. He said.
The aspirant expressed worry over the spate of insecurity, particularly in Kaduna State, saying that even if anywhere in the north is not safe, Kaduna should be due to the high level of military installations in the state.
Nigeria is in the situation it is in now due to bad leadership but could be great again if supported in areas of agricultural exportation, which will not be difficult for the country to invest in.
Responding, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna State, Mr. Felix Hyat, said Kaduna delegates will not vote for a northerner, westerner or southerner but for a credible Nigerian who would lead the country to success.
Mr. Hyat explained that no society can develop without education, However, Nigeria needs credible leaders with experience like Peter Obi.
