In the aftermath of the flood disaster in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, a community-based organisation, the Damboa Transformation and Coalition Forum (DTCF), supported vulnerable victims of the flood with relief materials to alleviate their sufferings.
The flood, which occurred on June 29 and lasted for about four days as a result of heavy downpours in the Gumsuri, Wovi, and Ngarjan communities, leading to flash floods, claimed two persons’ lives and consumed several houses, which rendered many homeless.
The distribution took place on 30th July and supported about 100 households from the flood-affected communities with items including a mat, blanket, mosquito net, 10-litre plastic bucket, bathing soap, and sanitary pads.
However, according to the organisation, the victims’ critical conditions prompted their decision to collaborate with privileged indigenous persons both at home and abroad to support the families in their trying moment.
Such efforts will motivate others and be a relief to the vulnerable beneficiaries who lost loved ones and property and were rendered homeless as a result of the disaster. it stated
