Counting from the sufferings of Nigerians, where the government budgeted a project for citizens’ wellbeing, motorists and citizens plying the Ilorin-Kabba-Obajana road, a road linking Kogi and Kwara states, continue to suffer deplorable conditions on the road despite the contractor receiving N358m for the project.
In the year 2023, the federal government, through the Federal Ministry of Works, awarded a contract for the rehabilitation of the Ilorin-Kabba-Obajana road to CGC Nigeria Limited, and records have shown the company has received a sum of N358m since November 2023.
Daily Episode gathered that the contractor had earlier commenced the projects by rehabilitating Idofian to Omupo, while the section of Kogi State remains in a deplorable condition, endangering the lives of citizens plying the road.
In a statement published by
Tracka, an accountability organisation in Nigeria, Daily Episode observed that the contractor had abandoned the project site and had not been sighted for about seven months at the road rehabilitation site.
The organisation charged the federal government, especially the implementing agency, the Federal Ministry of Works, to ensure the contractor, CGC Nigeria Limited, is returned to the site to continue the project so the citizens can travel safely on the Ilorin-Kabba-Obajana road.
