United States President Donald Trump has sought a recount of votes cast in Wisconsin, following an allegation of irregularities in some counties of the region.
Trump’s campaigner, Bill Stepien, in a statement on Wednesday, said Mr Trum would seek a recount immediately
The statement read: “Despite ridiculous public polling used as a voter suppression tactic, Wisconsin has been a razor-thin race as we always knew that it would be
“There have been reports of irregularities in several Wisconsin counties which raise serious doubts about the validity of the results.
“The President is well within the threshold to request a recount and we will immediately do so.”
Recall that earlier this evening, in what looked like a concession to defeat, Mr Trump had alleged foul play in the ongoing presidential election
Writing on his Twitter page, Mr Trump said: “They are finding Biden votes all over the place — in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. So bad for our Country!”
This is coming he had raised alarm over how he was magically upstaged in key states by his Democrat opponent Joe Biden.
In a post on his verified Facebook page, Mr Trump said the reason for his disappearing electoral fortune was the “dumping” of “surprise ballot”.
“Last night I was leading, often solidly, in many key States, in almost all instances Democrat run & controlled. Then, one by one, they started to magically disappear as surprise ballot dumps were counted.
On Twitter, the president also raised a similar alarm: “How come every time they count Mail-In ballot dumps they are so devastating in their percentage and power of destruction?”
Recall that the Democrat candidate Joe Biden had surged ahead as results of the United States Presidential election trickled in this morning.
As of 5:00am, Biden had secured 209 Electoral College votes to President Donald Trump’s 118
For a candidate to win, he must secure 270 Electoral College votes.
Results from battleground states with 96 Electoral College votes that would determine the final outcome were being expected.
