Hafsat Abdulhamid Adebayo, a 38-year-old mother and journalist with over a decade of experience, lies helpless on a sickbed at Jos Teaching Hospital in Plateau, northwestern Nigeria, after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Daily Episode gathered from Wikkitimes that a family of the ailing journalist appealed to the public to donate the sum of 5 million naira to save the life of Hafsat, who at the moment couldn’t eat, drink, or walk for about one week now, said Aisha Abdulhamid, Hafsat’s sister.
According to Aisha, “The illness didn’t start today; she has been battling for over four years now. As families, we have done more than we can; we spent all our savings, we have sold our belongings, and even friends, colleagues, and family members have supported us too, but at these moments, we are far below the budget due to financial constraints.
Last year, she had surgery at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, which the Bauchi state government sponsored. We thought that was over, but this time the condition became worse, and we are now transferred to Jos University Teaching Hospital after several efforts.
However, we were told that she has to undergo emergency surgery within one week. As we speak, Hafsat is lying; she cannot speak, eat, or walk, and we don’t have the requested 5 million naira. We can only appeal on her behalf; therefore, we appeal to Nigerians, the government, and organisations to save her life. She stated
Prior to the Hafsat brain tumor illness, she worked as a correspondent for the Daily Post in Bauchi State and has contributed to positive storytelling, making her exceptional for her remarkable contributions to the journalism profession.
