The first-time runner for the Nigerian presidential position and former governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi, defeated the former governor of Lagos state, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Lagos State, a state that held strong hope for the ruling All Progressives Congress and Tinubu in the south-western part of Nigeria.
According to the figures, Peter Obi of the Labour Party polled a total vote of 582,454 in about nine local government areas, beating Tinubu of the ruling All Progressive Congress, who scored a total vote of 572,606 in about eleven local government areas.
However, Alhaji Atiku Abubaka of the Peoples Democratic Party came in third with 75,750 votes across the 20 local government areas of Lagos State.
Professor Adenine Oladiji, the returning officer, announced the results shortly after the coalition and sorting of total votes ended at the state.
