Security personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) opened fire and injured three persons when enforcing an arrest in Tudun Wada village, Liman-Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to Zagalola, a security analyst and counterinsurgency expert, the incident occurred yesterday when the patrol team from Alkaleri council went to effect an arrest, which led to a confrontation with community members.
“The incident occurred on May 21, 2025, when the NSCDC patrol team from Alkaleri LGA went to effect an arrest, leading to a confrontation with residents of the community.”
The victims are named Hamza Sarkin Aska, Jibrin Adamu and Umar Rabi’u, a 12-year-old Almajiri who had bullet wounds.
“Two victims, Hamza Sarkin Aska and Jibrin Adamu, both of Tudun Wada village, sustained gunshot wounds on their left and right legs, respectively. A 12-year-old Almajiri, Umar Rabiu, from Yola Doka village, also sustained bruises on his right leg,” Zagalola said.
“Security operatives promptly responded, evacuating the injured victims to General Hospital Yuguda for medical attention. Hamza Sarkin Aska and Jibrin Adamu were admitted and are responding to treatment, while Umar Rabiu was treated and discharged.”
Zagalola further stated that sources said the Bauchi State police command has launched an investigation following the shooting incident.
When Daily Episode reached out to ASC Saminu Yusuf, the NSCDC’s spokesperson was not available for comment. SMS and WhatsApp messages sent to his remained unattended to.
