The Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, Comrade Abdullahi Ghali Basaf, has awarded a scholarship to 1,100 students from the area to pursue a National Certification in Education (NCE) at the Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education in Kano State.
As part of activities to mark his 100 days in office, Hon. Basaf told newsmen in the state that he has distributed medicines to 11 health facilities, textbooks, and school uniforms to pupils, supported Quranic education, and constructed and renovated school structures in the area.
According to him, he has constructed a block of classrooms at GSS Abdu Mariri, renovated hostels, and constructed new ones at JSS Gaida Diga and GJSS Na’ibawa. He has also renovated classrooms at Samegu Primary School, Shekar Medaki Primary School, and Tsamiya Mariri Primary School, among others.
“We have also installed solar-powered electricity at Panshekara Primary Health Care, secured admission for students at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and constructed water projects in Gurin Gawa and Kumbotso town, while boreholes in Zawaciki, Panshekara, Rimi, Sheka, Chalawa, and Na’ibawa were renovated.
“We equally provided free medical care to some patients at local government hospitals, while also carrying out routine monitoring of healthcare services to ensure delivery.”.
The chairman also noted that they have supported the security personnel in training IT officers, refurbished the operational vehicles of the vigilante and launched a voluntary security guard to enhance the security system of the area.
In the aspect of environmental development, he said a committee to oversee the environmental development in Kumbotso has been set up to stop land encroachment in Waratallawa and monitor environmental activities.
While noting an appreciation in revenue generation in the area, he said important roads were constructed in Sheka, Mariri, Guringawa, and Chiranchi, among others, while offices of the chairman, vice chairman, secretary, and DPM were also renovated at the secretariat.
