Ahead of the primary elections across the country, no fewer than 50 people from the counselor’s forum endorsed Hajiya Rabi Salisu Ibrahim for the seat of the senator representing Kaduna Central.
Rabbi, who is contesting under the ruling All Progressive Congress, was the only female aspirant among three others who bought the nomination and interest form, aiming to be the party’s flag bearer in the 2023 general election.
According to the aspirant, who addressed newsmen in Kaduna in the early hours of Monday, May 23, 2022, the endorsement comes as a surprise considering the challenges women aspiring for various positions encounter in northern Nigeria.
Many have wished I had not contested while others rumored my stepping down in this race, but today you can see how a team of counselors is making moves and permutating for my success because they understand my mission and vision.
I am out for the benefit of all. My level of experience in many fields will drive me to deliver good representation to the good people of Kaduna Central, especially the vulnerable families, women, and children, with a significant number of physically challenged people.
For quite a long time, Kaduna has been hit badly by insecurity, with the highest number of casualties from Giwa, Birnin Gwari, and Kajuru, which need urgent attention. I am an expert with a master’s in peace and conflict, and if allowed to serve as a senator, I promise to sponsor bills that will address the lingering issues. She added
However, the aspirant also noted that the governor of Kaduna state did not endorse anyone in the senatorial aspirations as speculated in the media. The governor only advised one of his two aides vying for the governorship race to step down and contest for the senatorial seat, which is an open and free contest for all.
As a result, I urged the good people of Kaduna Central to invest in voting for the right candidacy of myself in order to achieve the better representation they desire.
