As insecurity escalates in Nigeria, where kidnapping for ransom and organ harvesting is rapidly growing across regions by different gangs and militant groups, stories of missing persons are emerging and becoming a serious threat in the country.
In Cross River State, fear grips as two lecturers of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) are declared missing.
The lecturers, Eng. Ndifon Vincent and Eng. Emanuel Oduwho, are serving in the department of mechanical engineering at the university and were declared missing by the institution after a cut of contact since Friday, May 23, 2025.
Daily Episode gathered that the duo went missing while in transit from Lagos to Calabar after they embarked on a journey to buy a vehicle.
In a statement issued by the institution through its registrar, Mr Victor Ephria Ene, it was revealed that after losing contact with the two lecturers, they had contacted relevant authorities, the police and the DSS in the state.
According to Ene, both the police and the DSS are working in synergy to ensure the lecturers have returned to their homes safely.
“Both families, friends and colleagues from the institution are already missing the two lectures; therefore, we urge the public to help in identifying them and/or inform relevant authorities with information that may be useful.
“At the university, we are in a very terrible situation over this incident, even though the university community are anxiously praying for the safe return of our colleagues.” He added.
