The Nigerian military has handed over pieces of luggage and other valuables recovered days after the horrific attack on passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna train by a terrorist group of armed bandits along the Katari-Audu Jangwam area of Kaduna State.
The information was disclosed in a statement by the state commissioner of internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Friday, shortly after receiving the recovered items on his personal Facebook account.
However, the commissioner stated that the state governor, Nasir Ahmed El-rufai, commended the prompt response of the Nigerian troops during the attack and how they compiled the passenger’s luggage and other valuables without any hindrance within a short period.
No fewer than nine passengers, with proven identity and evidence of belonging, have already received their property from the military during the recovery.
The government will provide a system where passengers will receive their belongings in due course, as they will be stored in a safe place for some time. He added

Until this day, the number of the abducted victims is unknown, with the remaining passengers recovering from injuries sustained as other families mourn their deceased loved ones.
The attack has forced the Nigerian Railway Corporation to suspend activities in both Abuja and Kaduna terminals till further notice, while passengers grumble over the failed security of the country as they are forced to ply the Abuja-Kaduna expressway despite the attack and mass abductions by terrorist groups.

The government had previously promised to rescue the passengers kidnapped by the armed bandits, with military operations expanding to the terrorist hideout.
