In a recent rebuttal to Governor Babagana Zulum’s concerns regarding the potential impact of the new tax reform bill on states revenue, Hon. Abdulmumini has challenged the Borno State Governor to be transparent with the people.
Hon. Abdulmumini, in an interview, expressed his belief that Governor Zulum should disclose the current revenue allocation to Borno State and the projected figures post-tax reform implementation.
According to Jibril, doing so will provide clarity to the public and dispel any misconceptions about his state’s concern.
The lawmaker also highlighted the existence of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), which allocates 3% of its funds to each of the six North-Eastern states.
He further revealed that Borno State has received a substantial sum of N19 billion from the NEDC in the previous month
Recently, Governor Zullum lamented over how his state will not be able to pay salary when the new Tax reform bill is implemented. He believed the bill should be rejected by Northern Governors and northerners.
Additionally, Hon. Abdulmumini pointed out that the Equalization Fund, which is designed to assist states with lower revenue generation, has been allocated a significant sum of N350 billion. Borno State, he noted, is eligible to receive funds from this fund.
The lawmaker’s urged Governor Zulum to engage in dialogue and work collaboratively with other states to address the challenges posed by the new tax reform bill.
