In their efforts to support initiatives aimed at providing solutions and societal development, a community-based organization, the Rigasa Action and Awareness Forum (RAAF), has urged the Kaduna State Government to address challenges faced by millions of citizens in the Rigasa Community of Igabi local government in the state.
The organisation made the plea while detailing issues faced by the community in a statement released on Monday, 19 May 2025, and charged the state governor, Uba Sani, to act swiftly in addressing the community’s demand.
According to the statement signed by the forum president, Comr. Hassan Abubakar disclosed that “the Rigasa community is faced with deplorable road conditions and decay in the health sector.
“For the health sector, the surviving general hospital in the community is suffering from a lack of medical doctors and other health personnel, while the infrastructural expansion remains incomplete.
However, beyond the need for infrastructure and medical personnel, the hospital is in dire need of an electricity power supply, as the lack of an electricity power supply has in the past caused several complications from which citizens suffer as a result.
While we wait for the government interventions in the general hospital, we are also hit by deplorable conditions of the roads.
Our roads are in a sorry state, even though the Rigasa community has contributed and given the highest number of votes, which led to the emergence of Uba Sani as governor during the 2023 general elections.
We’ve made several attempts to patch the road using sand and sandbags, but the conditions overpowered us, as only the government can help in this direction.
With this, we write to remind the government of its primary function and the need for urgent attention in the Rigasa community, as we believe your government will consider the trying moment and intervene for the development of the state and the community,” the statement added
While urging swift government intervention, the organisation also laments the lack of support from a Chinese firm in the community.
According to Hassan, “As a community-based organisation, we all recognise the presence of a Chinese firm, CCECC (Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company), with an office opposite the Rigasa General Hospital for many years. It is disheartening that the company has not extended power supply support to the hospital, which should ideally be part of their corporate social responsibility.
