The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has ruled out zoning formula in the selection of its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections.
The Chairman of the Panel set up by the party to review it’s performance in the 2019 election, Governor Bala Muhammed of Bauchi State, while submitting his panel’s report to the National Working Committee on Wednesday, urged the party to give candidates from all the geopolitical zones in the country equal opportunity to contest.
While describing the argument that the Southeast zone be given special consideration in the selection of its Presidential candidate as ‘valid’, he however, cautioned the party that capable hands exist for the post from other zones in the country.
The PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, while receiving the report of the panel, promised that the NWC will diligently study and analyse the report in order to come up with a balanced position which will be beneficial to the party as a whole, declaring the party’s readiness and determination to wrest back power from the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.
