The leadership of the Unified Nigerian Youth Forum (UNYF), headed by Comrade Abdulsalam Moh’d Kazeem, has called on the Nigerian President, President Muhammadu Buhari, to fire the Nigerian Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onu.
Mr. Ogbonnaya Onu has been in the news for days due to agitations by many groups calling for his resignation or being sacked by the Nigerian President.
It will be recalled that Daily Episode reports Northern Group Ask Buhari to Disengage Science Minister

The leadership of the Unified Nigerian Youth Forum (UNYF) salutes the courage of President Mohammad Buhari for his recent position on the former Acting Director-General of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi Lagos.
It’s no longer news that we have many Nigerians with similar cases like that of Mr. Chima Igwe, who have several academic qualifications only on paper, while such never existed either in their behaviors in terms of value-added capacity or in the registry department of the said institution they are claiming to be alumni of.
The independent and corrupt practices and other related offenses commission must rise to the expectations of the current administration and that of President Buhari’s fight against corruption at all levels. How on earth will such a sensitive agency of government, with bogus budgetary allocations year in and year out, be in existence when Mr. Chima and his co-travelers will be receiving salaries and other remunerations for over seventeen years? Such a scandal could only be directed by a petition written by some concerned group. So why are we having an ICPCPC?
The Governing Council of the institute raised a series of valid fundamental observations against Mr. Chima Igwe’s academic qualifications, which even led to his deposition and was subsequently demoted by the institute’s Governing Board for claiming to have completed his Ph.D. program in a roadside university in the Benin Republic, but to the surprise of all concerned stakeholders, the Hon. Minister of Science and Technology ignored the Board and retained him as the Acting Director-General of the institute, against the law of the institute and that of the federal republic of Nigerian
The Hon. Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mr. Ogbonaya Onu, should be immediately sacked by Mr. President. His failure to sack him for bringing such an avoidable embarrassment to Nigeria among the committee of nations will lead to a nationwide massive protest. The era when people of his caliber deliberately ignored constituted authority and brought our nation down under the current administration is over. The two ministers that were relieved of their appointments recently based on low performance are far better than Mr.
Going by Mr. Ogbonaya Onu’s age, academic qualifications, and the confidence Mr. President has in him, we are shocked to see him with his fingers in such a favourism deal against merit principles, at the detriment of national progress and stability.
Dated and signed.
Comrade Abdulsalam Moh’d Kazeem
