As women struggle to engage in the male-dominated business field, the Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative, in collaboration with Fable Advisory, organised a stakeholder engagement to foster the domestication and implementation of the women’s economic empowerment policy in Kano State.
In her remarks during the engagement, the Kano state commissioner for the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and Disabled, Hon. Amina Abdullahi, better known as HOD, assured full implementation of the policy.
According to her, “The Kano State government is committed to providing solutions that will grow business strategy and general inclusion of women.

Since assuming office as commissioner of this esteemed ministry, women’s economic empowerment has been my top priority. If properly implemented, this policy—designed to address the needs of both rural and urban women—will enhance the state’s GDP and promote financial independence for women, who have long been marginalized in business and economic opportunities.
Thus, I assure the commitment of these organisations pushing for full domestication and proper implementation of this policy, my commitment and dedication to ensure the Kano State government implements and accepts the policy.” she added.
However, while disclosing the significance and impact of the policy if properly implemented, the Isa Wali program manager, Ismail Abdullahi, revealed that some months back in 2024, the Isa Wali empowerment initiative in collaboration with Fable Advisory, where we got people from the image industries, especially from the creative sectors and the learning hubs, were we reviewed the policy so it could be in line with the culture and economy of citizens of Kano State.

Now that the policy is being processed by the Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, therefore, ahead of the policy domestication, we are gathered here today to come up with strategies to work with the creative sectors and also the learning hubs so we can come up with a system to create awareness that can have the policy integrated into the system in the state.
We believe once this policy is integrated into the state, it will surely support women’s economic empowerment in the state.
However, at the end of this program, we target to see a robust system or techniques that we can use in awareness and collaborations with other stakeholders to ensure the policy is being disseminated among people at the grassroots and has it domesticated in the state.
At the women’s wing, Amina Ibrahim Idris, a training specialist from startup Kano, charges women to participate in the struggle for policy domestication and proper implementation in the state.

According to Amina, women have been marginalised for quite a long time, and any form of empowerment will have a very strong impact, As the speaker said during his presentation even in religion when you empower a woman is like you empower a nation.
I think this initiative a timely as we hope to see a positive impact if the policy is domesticated in the state. Amina Added.
