As Nigerians struggle with inadequate service delivery in certain public health facilities, where citizens demand proper medical observation and treatment from health personnel or hospital staff, the Kaduna South local government has taken measures to curtail the menace as it introduces a toll-free line to report misconduct across all primary healthcare centers within the LGA.
The development was announced by the executive chairman, Rayyan Hussein, who stated their commitment to delivering mandates they are elected for is primary and the health institutions must be served without compromise.
According to him, “the initiative is part of Kaduna State’s broader commitment to improving transparency, accountability, and the overall quality of health services available to citizens.
“We understand that access to quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege. That is why we are putting systems in place that allow every citizen—regardless of their background—to speak up whenever they encounter poor service, neglect, or misconduct in any of our health facilities.
“The toll-free line is free, confidential, and available to all. When you call, your voice will be heard, and appropriate action will be taken.
“This is more than a complaint channel; it is a tool for change, a way to ensure that the health system in Kaduna South truly serves the needs of our people.
“Let me be clear: we will not tolerate any form of negligence or indiscipline within our healthcare system. And with your help, we will continue to monitor, improve, and rebuild trust between service providers and the community.” He added
Civil society organisations in the state applaud the local government’s commitment by introducing the toll-free line. They urge other local governments to emulate Kaduna South, where citizens’ voices will be heard for accountability and transparency in the health sector.
