Igbo’s Have Enslaved Ebony People; We Will Never Be Part Of Biafra – Governor Dave Umahi
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, who is also the chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum, has reaffirmed his opposition to the indigenous people of BIAFRA (IPOB).
The governor accused the Igbo of colonizing and enslaving the Ebony people for decades.
Mr. Umahi stated on Wednesday that “Ebonyi would never be a part of Biafra because of the marginalization and slavery that Ebonyi people have been subjected to over the years by their South East brethren.”
Since the embattled leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, emerged after the late Ojukwu, who fled abroad for safety after Nigerian troops won the war, the indigenous people of Biafra have been agitating for the Biafra country by fighting tik for tat.
The governor, who was enraged by the claim that Ebonyi people are to blame for Anambra state’s chaos,
He denied the allegations, saying that anyone found guilty of murder should be executed and that his people would never commit such a crime.
The ongoing killings in Anambra state are political in nature and have no ties to anyone outside of Anambra, let alone the Ebonyi people.
He claimed that criminals from other states in the South-East zone had been apprehended in Ebonyi State for the killings and other horrific acts, but he did not specify which states they came from.
Anambra State is literally under siege, as mysterious gunmen have intensified their attacks across the state ahead of the November 6 governorship election.
In recent weeks, several locals, including noted physician Chike Akunyili, have been slain. Arsonists have targeted government and private assets such as police stations, SSS offices, and INEC headquarters.
If the attacks do not stop, Attorney General Abubarkar Malami threatened to declare a state of emergency on Wednesday.
He stated that the Buhari administration is responsible for ensuring the integrity of elections as well as the protection of lives and property.
