As Nigerians groaned over lingering insecurity in the country, a disagreement between articulated vehicle drivers and troops of the Nigerian army left many motorists and travelers stranded on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.
Daily Episode gathered that the trailer drivers blocked the major highway to protest alleged maltreatment by the soldiers.
However, the drivers complained bitterly about why they blocked the expressway along Sabon Gayan community in Kaduna state’s Chikun local government area.
According to Daily Trust, men from the Nigerian Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and the Nigerian Police Force have since arrived on the scene to take immediate action to allow motorists to travel safely.
Recall that the Abuja-Kaduna expressway is one of the most dangerous routes for travelers as terrorist groups of armed bandits usually kidnap and kill travelers heartlessly.
Furthermore, the sector commander of the Nigerian Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Hafiz Mohammed, urged motorists to avoid plying the Abuja-Kaduna expressway in the late hours, while advising drivers to respect the law and drive with caution.
The gridlock is expected to be relaxed after the intervention of security and the NURTW Kaduna State chapter.
