Unidentified gunmen suspected of belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have invaded the Isu and Onicha Igboeze communities in Ebonyi State’s Onicha Local Government Area.
The gunmen killed about two police officers in the Isu village, according to the Daily Trust Newspaper, while several others were killed in Onicha Igboeze.
Earlier today, the gunmen burnt seven travelers alive in a commercial vehicle.
However, two lawyers were among the slain victims. After burning the Lexus jeep they arrived in, the gunmen allegedly stole a vehicle belonging to the lawyers.
Since the IPOB launched its security force, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), unidentified persons have been wreaking havoc and causing unrest in the southeast region.
DSP Loveth Odah, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the incidents to journalists while assuring citizens that the commissioner of police, CP Aliyu Garba, has dispatched a special team to maintain peace in the environment and the state as a whole.
