A socio-cultural organization, the Anambara Elders For Equity and Justice on Friday condemned the threat made by the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu to the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe.
Kanu had earlier tweeted on his official Twitter handle to warn the monarch to desist from using the Onitsha Vigilante Service or inviting the military to flush out members of the Eastern Security Network operating in the state.
The AEEJ spokesman, Ejiofor M Okafor in a statement on Friday condemned the unguarded utterances of Kanu which he described as unfortunate.
He stated that the threat to Igwe Achebe is an affront on the well respected traditional institution that he represents, warning that Kanu should desist from making further denigrating statements against the Obi.
“We must warn you to desist from further denigrating Agbogidi (Igwe Achebe) for we are at a loss understanding why you are intent on destroying his laudable attempts at safeguarding his domain and we will have you know that it is not a worthy Igbo trait to be seen insulting elders, let alone, someone as well respected and revered as the Obi of Onitsha who is old enough to be your grandfather” the statement reads.
The group further go on to declare the readiness of Anambara people to tow the path of peace and development in the state, stating that ” true sons and daughters of Anambara will never be part of your current gutter antics which really does not tell well of your breeding and we will not allow you to engender a situation of crisis in the state which had enjoyed lasting peace”.
