The senator representing the Katsina South senatorial district, Senator Muntari Danduste, is fingered in a procurement violation, where he was accused of personalising a public project as a donation, a move alleged to be for political gain.
This was contained in a report by Tracka, a transparency and accountability organisation, released on May 20th, 2025.
According to the report, the federal government of Nigeria allocated about 200 million naira through an implementing agency, the National Animal Product Research Institute, Zaria, in the 2024 budget for the purpose of purchasing tricycles in Katsina South.
However, after tracking the projects, it was found that on the 25th day of March 2025, about 50 tricycles were shared by Senator Danduste, but as personal donations, not a project of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and such is seen as an attempt to mislead the public.
It’s against the law, as “we frown on attempts of public servants to parade publicly funded projects as donations for political gains.” Tracker released a lament.
Katsina South, a senatorial district where Dandutse is representing, is among the regions being affected by insecurity in the country, where armed bandits are displacing innocent citizens and kidnapping for ransom.
