Former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, Asma’u Yawo Halilu, has supported no fewer than fifty-five journalists with a cow and sachets of soya oil.
While fielding questions from journalists, Asma’u disclosed that one of her many contacts made the donation, and she decided to share with her colleagues.
“The economy is not favourable; people are struggling to make ends meet. So when the opportunity presented itself, I grabbed it because I know that it will put smiles on faces.
“I pray God continues to replenish the pocket of the donor; we truly appreciate him. While I was in office as Chairman of the Council, he helped us to succeed, and even after leaving office, he is still doing great things for journalists through me,” the former Chairman said.
According to her, “Extending goodwill strengthens bonds, and it encourages peaceful coexistence and promotes unity. That’s why I chose to share everything I get with my colleagues because there is love in sharing.
“You could recall during Ramadan when eggs were donated to us; we shared them amongst our colleagues, and it made them happy,” she explained.
Asma’u assured of her continuous support to journalists whenever the opportunity presents itself.
