Nigeria Custom Service in Katsina State Command, said it has seized items worth over N265million from April to date.
Area controller of the Command, Kirawa Abdulahi, who disclosed this to newsmen yesterday at the command’s headquarters in Katsina, said the apprehension was based on intelligence gathering and collaborative effort with other operational commands.
He said, “For the period of April 2020 to date a total of 166 seizures were made with 65 vehicles ( means of conveyance) worth a total DPV of N265, 746,400.00 “Some of the seized items are: 2,327 bags of 50kg foreign rice, 1,106 Jerry – cans of 25ltrs of vegetable oil, 2,711 cartons of noodles, 4 used (Tokunbo) vehicles, 600 bags of potash, 228 bales of textile fabrics of all sort, 154 bales of used clothes, 19 cartons of perfume.”
He therefore affirmed that whatsoever is across the border is prohibited, because government had already closed the border but smugglers always find ways to bring in items conveying them in either motorcycles, vehicles or enter with legs. Abdulahi warned the smugglers to stop smuggling as the command was ready to go after them.
