Unknown gunmen in the early hours of today, Friday 26 February abducted more than 300 students in Jangede, Zamfara State.
The gunmen, numbering more than 100 arrived at Government Secondary School, Jangede, overpowered the security on duty and abducted the girls to an unknown location.
The Special Adviser to the Zamfara State Governor on Public Enlightenment, Zailani Bappah confirmed the incident and said that efforts are in top gear to ascertain the actual number of missing students.
Zamfara state has been one of the hardest hit states by bandits activities in recent times.
The Zamfara state governor, Bello Mattawale recently welcomed repentant bandits to the government house who surrendered various sophisticated arms and ammunition.
