Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raju’un!We are from Allah and to him we shall return.
Yesterday Sunday, the 10th of May, 2020 and the 17th of Ramadan ,1441AH equivalent to the Islamic calendar at about 11:40 pm Dr. Muhammad Sadisu Muhammad, my maternal grandfather, fondly referred to as Baba Danbaba in the family returned to his creator in the city of Kano after a brief illness . His family, students, Kano state and Nigeria at large have indeed lost a great academics.
He had his PhD in Language and Linguistics from France with specialization in French. He attended the famous University of Jos. He started his academic career as a class teacher in the then old Kano state.
He taught in several schools across the present Kano state including Kazaure which is now In Jigawa state.
He was with Kano Educational Resource Department, KERD, and before his death , he was a French lecturer at the Federal College of Education, FCE, Kano.
Baba was a devout Muslim who contributed immensely to the propagation of Islam as a member of several Muslim Da’awa groups; such as : the National Council of Muslim Youths Organization of Nigerian, NACOMYO, Hudaibiyya, and Council of Ulama’a etc.
During his lifetime, whenever you saw him he was on his way to a noble cause either religious or anything that would advance humanity.
He spent most of his life serving humanity at both family and societal levels. He was an easy going person who related very well with all people including the non Muslims and would go an extra mile to intervene or mediate between conflicting family members, neighbors and friends.
He was a great father to all and sundry. We have indeed lost a mediator per excellence!
He was kind, humble, and simple.
He was a true academic and a public servant per excellence. He was very contented with worldly things as such, he was always satisfied with the little he had .
He was never materialistic at all! He died at the age of 76 and left behind his two wives, six children,13 grand children, and hundreds of family members who reside in Kano city, Lagos state, Ibadan,Sokoto, Kaduna, Gombe, Jos ,even outside Nigeria, like Cairo, Gabon, Cameroon and some part of European Nation etc. May the Almighty Allah give us the fortitude to bear this irreparable lost.
Baba has indeed left a big vacuum in his family, neighborhood, the academic environment and his community at large.
His immediate family members will greatly miss him for his unbiased reconciliatory role to the family. May the Almighty Allah raise someone in the family that will take over from him.
May the Almighty Allah grant him Jannatul fiddausi! Ameen! Adeiu BABA
