One of the leading gubernatorial aspirants under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Shehu Sani, has said he does not need to be someone’s favorite to win the 2023 gubernatorial seat in Kaduna.
Shehu Sani made this known on Tuesday while briefing journalists at the NUJ council secretariat.
The aspirant who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th assembly said his government will work to bring people of all races together, particularly the two dominant religions, Islam and Christianity, for long-term peace and development.
Shehu assured he has the capability to defeat any candidate under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress if he gets the PDP ticket at the party’s primary election come May 26th, 2022.
“My administration will engage expertise in tackling the insecurity challenges bedeviling Kaduna State so as to secure the state like other northern states such as Jigawa, Kano, and Gombe, among others,” he said.
“On my part, it is not a do or die affair. I came because the state has been badly governed by the APC and insecurity has been prevailing. If elected as the executive governor of the state, I will answer my name as the chief security officer of the state.”
I will not be the type of governor that would say the security of the state is in the hands of the federal government. It will be placed under my expertise, and I will train volunteers to secure their ancestral land.
As opposition, we have been doing everything possible to meet with delegates at different wards for a smooth primary election coming up this month.
He said Kaduna has been badly governed by the ruling APC and, as a result, its residents will not want to miss it at the polls in order to avoid getting into difficulty again.
I will also focus on our industries and how people can be empowered while I provide necessary employment for the people as well as provide an enabling environment for our farmers too.
I will live up to my words, if elected. I am not a governor that would promise free education and increase school fees or retrench workers without paying them their entitlements. He stressed.
