Police Arrest Notorious Bandits, Killed Many Terrorists in Zamfara
The Nigerian police force, Zamfara state command, has succeeded in arresting and killing some notorious armed bandits terrorizing Northern Nigeria.
The operations claimed the lives of at least five bandits and arrested wanted bandit kingpin Bello Ruga.
Bello and his colleagues were arrested during a gun duel in the Gummi local government area of Zamfara state.
Bello Ruga, who is a commandant and loyal to the high-profile bandit leader, Turji.
According to reports, the arrested bandits led a series of attacks on commuters that resulted in the kidnapping and killing of several civilians as well.
The commissioner of police, Ayuba Elkhana, of Zamfara state command, disclosed this while parading other bandits and their collaborators at the police command on Saturday, October 2nd.
Mr. Elkhana also noted that Bala is still in custody as investigations are still ongoing.
An AK47 rifle and many bullets were recovered from the suspected bandits, he added.
It would be recalled that telecom services have been shorted in Zamfara state as part of efforts in the fight against the insurgents.
However, the network was fully restored in the state capital, Gusau, on October 1st.
