Government Abandoned Mine Site 12 Years Ago, But Operate Illegally—Minister.
12 years ago, the mining site was in full operation by the state governments and under the Assam Mineral Development Corporation (AMDC) control, said Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
However, while clarifying the mining operations, the minister noted that the government had abandoned the mining site sometime before now, so the miners are operating illegally for the incident.
Police in the Dima district have confirmed the arrest of a man identified as Abdul Ganan Laskar, who, according to the police, is connected to the incident.
