The Kaduna State Zone One All Progressive Congress (APC) Concerned Stakeholders have demanded that the Kaduna gubernatorial race be taken to zone 1 ahead of the 2023 general election.
Dr. Usman Ahmed Danbaba, the former Senior Advisor to Governor Nasir el-rufai, who doubled as the APC Returning Agent, made the appeal while addressing a press conference yesterday in Kaduna.
Dr. Ahmed said zone 1, which is Kaduna North senatorial district, has not benefited from any political position for the past 7 years.
“The Senator, the 6 members of the House of Representatives, 11 out of the 12 State Assembly members, and 7 out of the 8 council chairpersons from the Zone are all from the APC.
“However, none of the Governor, Deputy Governor, the two Ministers, Party Chairman, Party Secretary, Women’s Leader, Youth Leader, or the State representative at the national APC are from Zone One.
“We believe that our views and stands on the forthcoming party primary election of our great party should be listened to and respected, especially as it affects the choice of a predecessor to our leader, Mallam El-Rufai.”
“It is known to everyone that our zone is the strongest for the APC in the state. Our consistent performance has been undoubtedly outstanding in all previous elections of 2015 and 2019 and the recent local government elections.”
“We, therefore, need a candidate that is competent, a team player, and indeed familiar with the policies and development agenda of the current administration of Governor El-Rufai.”
The next Governor of the State must be bold, well educated, and charismatic enough to discuss matters related to the development of the state and articulate them.
We need that competent character and acceptability as Malam Nasir has demonstrated in the last 7 years to be sustained. We wouldn’t appreciate anything less than that”. He said.
The text of the press conference was signed jointly by former Chairmanship Aspirant APC Engr. Ahmed Yahaya Lere, women mobilize kaduna state; Hajia Hauwa Lukman Zaria, Former Zonal Youth leader of APC, Hon. Abubakar Aliyu Ikara, Hon. Aliyu Ibrahim Sakadadi, Yahanasu Tsoho Ikara, Hon.
