Kaduna, one of the northern Nigerian states dominated by armed conflicts and violence, has today experienced grief and sorrow as no fewer than ten people were reportedly killed by yet-to-be-identified gangs or terrorist groups in the Zangon Kataf local government area.
According to the reports gathered by Daily Episode, the corpses were recovered from Unguwar Wakili after the attack that claimed their lives, which occurred at around 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, March 11, 2023.
Authorities in the local government disclose the sad losses of the Nigerian citizens shortly after a curfew is imposed to investigate and ensure calmness among the citizens to prevent further escalation or occurrence of the killings.
Ungwan Juju, Mabuhu, Ungwan Wakili, and Zangon Urban are the communities listed for the imposed curfew, Yabo Ephraim, the media aide to the LGA chairman, noted in a statement he issued.
However, Zangon Kataf has been experiencing a religious crisis, farmer herders, and ethnic and political clashes for some decades in Kaduna, while the escalation of terrorism by both Boko-Haram and bandits worsens the insecurity that has resulted in many victims’ abject poverty and an extreme need for humanitarian assistance.
Until the moment of publishing these reports, police authorities in Kaduna State have yet to confirm the killings.
